Job summary

A leading utility provider is seeking a Senior Technical Trainer in Gas Operations to develop and conduct technical training programs that ensure safe and effective performance of field employees. Responsibilities include analyzing job tasks, implementing training assignments, and evaluating trainee performance. Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline and have strong communication and leadership skills. This safety-sensitive position requires a valid Driver’s License and is subject to drug testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years in field service design/installation experience.
• Associate's degree with 7+ years of experience or 8-10 years in related field.
• Driver’s License, D.O.T. Preferred.

Senior Technical Trainer, Gas Operations

Join Eversource Energy as a Senior Technical Trainer in Gas Operations to develop and conduct technical training programs that ensure safe, effective performance of field employees.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze job tasks and current field performance with field personnel and supervisors to identify training needs and design program content.
• Implement classroom, hands‑on, and on‑the‑job training assignments while supervising and instructing trainees.
• Evaluate trainee performance during training, follow up on learning through field visits, observations, and refresher training.
• Update training programs with new procedures and revisions; collaborate with vendors, technical experts, engineers, and field personnel to provide operational input on new equipment and construction standards.
• Conduct field quality audit programs and supervise field employees' training and certification.

Essential Skills & Knowledge

• Utility transmission and distribution system design, operations, maintenance, construction principles and practices.
• Exceptional communication skills to present theory and concepts; ability to provide hands‑on technical instruction.
• Leadership and coaching abilities for training delivery.
• Proficiency with PC desktop applications (e.g., Microsoft Word & Excel) and understanding of labor contracts.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related discipline with at least five (5) years of field service design/installation experience and supervision; or
• Associate’s Degree with at least seven (7) years of experience; or
• Minimum eight (8) to ten (10) years in transmission, distribution or field service design/installation, servicing customers and supervising employees.

Licenses & Certifications

• Driver’s License, D.O.T. Preferred
