Job summary

AES Renewables & Power is seeking a Developer, Gas Generation to lead the development of natural gas generation projects for large commercial and industrial customers in the United States. You will guide projects from site identification through construction handoff, ensuring safety, efficiency, and successful delivery.

The role requires coordination with multi-disciplinary teams, detailed feasibility work, and strong stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated Experience developing at least 500MW of natural gas generation projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• Knowledge of project development, permitting, utility coordination, interconnection, pipeline infrastructure, and commercial contracting.
• Experience with fuel supply strategies, utilities, pipeline operators, or integrated energy infrastructure.
• Familiarity with gas generation technologies.
• Ability to collaborate across technical, commercial, and customer-facing teams to develop practical energy solutions.
• Experience supporting data centers, large-load customers, powered land projects, or similar infrastructure developments (preferred).
• Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse audiences.
• Ability to balance multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel as projects and business needs require.

Responsibilities

• Lead gas generation project development from site identification through construction support.
• Partner with Commercial, Data Center Development, Renewable Generation Development, Solutions Engineering, and other internal teams to develop integrated Powered Land Solutions.
• Evaluate project feasibility by coordinating siting, fuel supply, interconnection, infrastructure, and permitting strategies.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, forecasts, financial models, and development risk registers.
• Coordinate pipeline identification, utility engagement, and fuel supply strategy while supporting commercial negotiations.
• Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to advance project milestones.
• Support discretionary permitting efforts, public meetings, regulatory engagement, and environmental diligence.
• Coordinate engineering, site due diligence, land activities, and infrastructure planning to keep projects on schedule.
• Manage contracts and ensure compliance with key project agreements.
• Identify project risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and communicate updates to leadership and stakeholders.
• Support project financing due diligence and ensure accurate project documentation within AES systems.
• Lead successful project handoffs to Construction once development milestones have been achieved.
• Represent AES professionally while building relationships with customers, partners, regulatory agencies, and local communities.
