Job summary

AES Renewables & Power is seeking a Developer, Gas Generation to lead the development of natural gas generation projects for large commercial and industrial customers. You will drive site identification, feasibility, and construction handoff, coordinating with engineering, finance, legal, and commercial teams.

The role requires experience with gas generation technologies, strong PM skills, and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

Experience developing at least 500MW of natural gas generation projects.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Economics, Environmental Science, or related field.
Knowledge of project development, permitting, utility coordination, interconnection, pipeline infrastructure, and commercial contracting.
Experience with fuel supply strategies, utilities, pipeline operators, or integrated energy infrastructure.
Familiarity with gas generation technologies.
Ability to collaborate across technical, commercial, and customer-facing teams to develop practical energy solutions.
Experience supporting data centers, large-load customers, powered land projects, or similar developments (preferred).
Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills; able to communicate across diverse audiences.
Willingness to travel as projects and business needs require.

Responsibilities

Lead gas generation project development from site identification through construction support.
Partner with Commercial, Data Center Development, Renewable Generation Development, Solutions Engineering, and other internal teams to develop integrated Powered Land Solutions.
Evaluate project feasibility by coordinating siting, fuel supply, interconnection, infrastructure, and permitting strategies.
Manage project schedules, budgets, forecasts, financial models, and development risk registers.
Coordinate pipeline identification, utility engagement, and fuel supply strategy while supporting commercial negotiations.
Work with internal and external stakeholders to advance project milestones.
Support discretionary permitting efforts, public meetings, regulatory engagement, and environmental diligence.
Coordinate engineering, site due diligence, land activities, and infrastructure planning to keep projects on schedule.
Manage contracts and ensure compliance with key project agreements, including site control, fuel supply, and commercial contracts.
Identify project risks, mitigate, and communicate updates to leadership and stakeholders.
Support project financing due diligence and ensure accurate project documentation within AES systems.
Lead successful project handoffs to Construction after milestones are achieved.
Represent AES professionally while building relationships with customers, partners, regulators, and communities.
