Job summary

Black Hills Energy is seeking a Gas Operations Technician in Wichita, Kansas to safely perform general gas distribution system tasks including maintenance, operation, leak survey, odorization, CP and construction work. Residency within 30 miles of the Wichita office is required.

You will work under the Gas Operations Supervisor to ensure safe and compliant operations. The role emphasizes accurate installation, underground line locating, leak repair, gas measurement and pressure regulation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Level II/Senior require 2+ or 4+ years in natural gas, construction, maintenance, or related experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide recommendations on proper material type and size to accommodate load requirements and pressure.
• Insure accurate location and installation of facilities such as service lines, mains and meter sets.
• Proficient in underground line locating.
• Perform leak classification and repairs for underground facilities.
• Perform gas measurement and pressure regulation installations.
• Install facilities according to exact specifications (trench depth, width, auguring, shoring).
• Perform hot line tapping of mains and services as required.
