Job summary

Ameren Illinois is hiring a Gas Distribution Gas System Operating Supervisor to direct field personnel in responding to gas emergency and non-emergency situations with safety as the primary goal. The role requires rotating shifts, after-hours callouts, and occasional travel to field sites.

The position is located in Decatur or Pawnee, IL, with training in Decatur lasting 3–6 months. Candidates should have 5+ years in gas/electric distribution systems and strong communication and leadership

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Five or more years of relevant experience in gas or electric distribution systems or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally by phone and written notes.
• Ability to direct and supervise a number of concurrent field activities.

Responsibilities

• Manage gas work scope for assigned gas areas.
• Assess availability of gas field personnel across centers.
• Direct gas field personnel to respond to emergency and non‑emergency orders.
• Coordinate with Gas Supervision to address resource changes.
• Perform after-hours callouts for emergencies or workload.
• Coordinate emergency excavation activities and secure JULIE permits.
• Follow processes established for the GDSOS role.
