Job summary

Black Hills Energy in Wray, Colorado seeks a Service Technician to repair and service domestic appliances and perform gas-related tasks including meter work and emergency responses.

The role requires a high school diploma, a valid driver's license, up to 10% travel, EPA Refrigerant Certification within 1 year, and HVAC certification on hire. Compensation varies by level (I–Senior) and includes comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license and driving record meeting standards.
• Travel up to 10% of the time.
• EPA Refrigerant Certification must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Level I: No experience required; HVAC Certification within 1 year of hire.
• Level II: Minimum of two years' experience; HVAC Certification upon hire.
• Senior: Minimum of four years' experience; HVAC Certification upon hire.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to use metering devices.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to changing environments.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Promote safety in all phases of company operations.
• Repair and service domestic appliances under Service Guard (Furnace, Water Heater, Fireplace, Range and AC).
• Perform general customer-facing service activities including turn-ons/offs, meter replacements, gas-leak investigations.
• Carry out utility line locating and meter investigations.
• Provide proactive assistance in resolving customer complaints.
• Support Service Guard and Appliance Repair programs.
• Participate in on-call rotation covering weekends and after hours.
• Perform meter reading and system maintenance.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Visually examine appliances, diagnose with mechanical/gas theory, repair or replace components.
• Maintain safety for personnel, assets and the public.
