Job summary

Northeastern University is seeking an Assistant Equipment Manager to support daily operations of the athletic equipment department. The role involves inventory, laundry, distribution, and game-day preparation to aid practices, competitions, and travel.

You will work with coaches, student-athletes, student workers, and athletics staff, ensuring equipment is organized, maintained, and available for events. Flexible evenings and weekends may be required in this part-time position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate records.
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate university vehicles.
• Ability to work a variable schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist with distribution, collection, fitting, organization, maintenance, and storage of athletic equipment and apparel for assigned programs.
• Maintain accurate equipment inventories and assist with periodic counts.
• Inspect equipment for condition and report damages or safety concerns.
• Assist with basic equipment fitting, adjustment, maintenance, or repair.
• Prepare equipment for practices, competitions, team travel, and events.
• Assist with game-day setup and breakdown, including equipment preparation and storage.
• Operate department laundry equipment and process uniforms, practice gear, towels, and other apparel.
• Maintain clean, organized, and secure equipment rooms and storage areas.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and transportation between university facilities and other locations.
• Operate university vehicles, as authorized, per university policies.
• Provide limited direction to student workers, as assigned.
• Communicate needs and concerns to the Head Equipment Manager.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
