Nucor Towers & Structures, a division of Nucor Corporation, seeks a Chemical Room Operator for the Galvanizing Department on the third shift in Decatur, AL. The role supports acid recovery, flux press operations, zinc recovery loading, and byproduct shipments.

The position emphasizes safety, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement, with training and HazMat responsibilities as part of daily duties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3 years in industrial manufacturing; chemical processing, water treatment, galvanizing, or related experience preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental compliance.
• Ability to read and follow operating procedures and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Operate the acid recovery system to keep acid tanks at proper levels.
• Operate flux press as needed to support galvanizing operations.
• Assist in loading the MZR for zinc recovery.
• Prepare byproduct shipments and maintain accurate records.
• Coordinate with 1st shift for turnover in pickle tank conditions and levels.
• Obtain and maintain HazWoper certification and HazMat team readiness.
• Maintain safety training records and support department onboarding.
• Lead or participate in safety leadership meetings and improvement initiatives.
