Job summary

Steel Dynamics, Inc. is seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance professional in Texas. The role focuses on preventative maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment, coordinating with engineers, mill techs, electricians, and operators to sustain uptime and reliability.

You will help ensure safe operations while supporting production goals in a high-demand environment. Responsibilities include responding to emergencies, troubleshooting malfunctions, and performing fabrications such as welding

Qualifications

• Must understand TCOS “Take Control of Safety” and what it means to you.
• 4+ years of mechanical maintenance experience.
• Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, grease systems, gearing, gear/shaft alignment, rigging, bearings, couplings, and precision measuring instruments.
• Fabrication skills including torching, welding, and blueprint reading.
• Preferred: Sheet Cold Mill experience.
• Proficient in hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams.
• Computer skills to include Word, Excel, and AutoCAD.

Overview

Responsible for preventative maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment in the facility. Works closely with the department Mechanical/Electrical Engineers, Maintenance Coordinators, Mill techs, Electricians, Shift Supervisors, and Operators to drive the department production goals. Focus will be on safety and assisting operations as needed to ensure uptime and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Starting Position with a Goal of Transitioning to Shift Work
• Maintain a safe work environment
• Good communication skills with an ability to work in a team environment
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and repair
• React to emergency breakdowns

Qualifications

• Previous mechanical maintenance experience, 4 years minimum
• Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, grease systems, gearing, gear/shaft alignment, rigging, bearings, couplings, and precision measuring instruments
• Fabrication skills that include torching, welding, and blueprint reading

Preferred:

• Sheet Cold Mill experience
• Proficient in comprehending hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams.
• Computer skills to include Word, Excel, and AutoCAD
