Job summary

The University of Denver is seeking a Gallery Assistant for the Vicki Myhren Gallery and Davis Gallery in the Shwayder Art Building. You will welcome visitors, share information about current exhibitions, and help maintain a safe, clean gallery environment during public hours.

As a student employee, you will support events, receptions, and lectures, handle light clerical tasks, and coordinate with staff to ensure a welcoming and professional experience for all visitors.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled DU undergraduate or graduate student with a Work Award.
• Dependable and punctual with the ability to work scheduled gallery shifts consistently.
• Ability to work independently and follow established gallery procedures.
• Ability to interact professionally and courteously with visitors, students, faculty, and staff.
• Willingness to learn about current exhibitions, gallery operations, and appropriate care and monitoring of artworks.

Responsibilities

• Welcome visitors and provide information about current exhibitions, programs, and the galleries.
• Monitor gallery spaces during public hours and help ensure the safety and care of exhibited artworks.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and professional gallery environment, including light cleaning and upkeep as needed.
• Answer visitor questions and direct guests to appropriate resources or staff.
• Assist with gallery events, receptions, lectures, and other public programs, including setup and cleanup.
• Perform general clerical and administrative tasks in support of gallery operations.
• Communicate any visitor concerns, maintenance issues, or problems in the galleries to appropriate staff.
• Perform other gallery-related duties as assigned.
