Job summary

Stubblefield Institute in Shepherdstown, WV, seeks a Gallery Assistant to monitor the university art gallery, greet visitors, and respond to inquiries about current exhibitions and artists. You will help with general upkeep and ensure the space remains welcoming and safe for the public, students, and staff.

Additionally, you may assist with installation processes, opening night receptions, and deinstallation, collaborating with curators and directors to support a smooth exhibition experience

Qualifications

• Must be Federal Work Study Eligible.
• Good Academic Standing.
• Preferred: general knowledge about art and familiarity with the current exhibition information.

Job Summary/Basic Function

To monitor the university's art gallery, assist when needed in other areas of the art department and answer any related questions that visitors may have regarding the gallery. Assists with general upkeep of the gallery space. To represent the university in a professional and knowledgeable manner regarding the art gallery, the exhibition, and the artists. May be called upon to assist with installation processes, opening night receptions, and deinstallation process.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be Federal Work Study Eligible
• Good Academic Standing.

Preferred Qualifications

Gallery Assistants should have general knowledge about art and are expected to familiarize themselves with the information provided by the Director of the current exhibition. If an inquiry is made it's important to be able to discuss the art exhibition.
