Job summary

The University of New Mexico in Gallup, NM seeks a Gallery Assistant to help open the gallery, supervise visitors, and support daily operations in the Fine Arts area.

You will assist with exhibitions installation and takedown, create labels, answer questions, and handle gallery phone inquiries while helping ensure the safety of all artwork. This student role aligns with Work-Study funding and morning shifts around 9am, with some evenings as needed.

Qualifications

• Mornings availability starting around 9am preferred.
• Must know how to use Microsoft Word.
• Be punctual, reliable and organized.
• Evenings available until 5pm when needed.

Responsibilities

• Opening the gallery for visitors
• Maintaining oversight of gallery visitors
• Aiding in the installation and take down of exhibitions
• Creation of labels for exhibitions
• Answering the questions of gallery visitors
• Answering the gallery phone
• Ensuring the safety of all art work
• Other duties may be assigned in the Fine Arts Area
