Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervising staff, managing inventory, and handling merchandising and paperwork. This temporary role aims to develop external candidates for the Store Manager position.

You will help with staffing, inventory accuracy, and customer service, while adhering to company policies and maintaining store standards. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Reads and interprets documents such as diagrams, safety rules, and procedures manuals.
• Performs basic math, including percentages and totals.
• Handles cashier duties with accountability and deposit controls.
• Familiar with IBM cash register functions and report generation.
• Knows inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Understands cash, security, deposits and store key controls.
• Has experience recruiting, interviewing, and hiring while ensuring legal compliance.
• Communicates clearly, both written and oral.
• Maintains effective interpersonal relations and teamwork.
• Organizes work with attention to detail.
• Able to solve problems with limited standardization.
• Some locations may prefer bilingual Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with merchandising and stocking according to store direction.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Follow company procedures and policies as outlined in handbooks and SOPs.
• Participate in opening and closing store activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds and cash controls.
• Help maintain a clean, well-stocked store and safe environment.
• Operate store in the manager’s absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete all required paperwork on time.
