Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking a Production Manager Trainee in Sheldon, MO to learn and certify across farm department processes within Smithfield’s systems and pork production standards.

You will work under department leadership, perform hourly tasks, and progress through the Manager Training development program. The role includes on-site learning, the potential to lead teams after certification, and a pathway to first managerial assignment with environmental, health, and internal policy

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university in Animal Science or related Agricultural field, or currently enrolled college student with an anticipated graduation by end of current semester.
• Ability to lead others in a fast-paced setting.
• Willingness to relocate to complete training and assume first managerial assignment.
• Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft software.

Responsibilities

• Learns, demonstrates capability/knowledge and becomes certified in all farm department areas.
• Develops and prepares required reports on experiences and suggests improvements.
• Be on call to work in emergency situations such as alarm calls, inclement weather, and power outages.
• Performs duties as acting Head of Department as needed by management.
