Job summary

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission in Rockville, Maryland seeks a qualified engineer to support complex regulatory and policy matters related to the safety and licensing of byproduct materials.

Responsibilities include planning and leading projects for regulations, regulatory analyses, policies, guidelines, and staff recommendations; coordinating with State and Federal partners on safety and control issues; and developing technical positions and guidance within the MSSS division.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline is required.
• Current Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in a relevant discipline is required/preferred.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) examination is acceptable for entry if accompanied by other credentials.
• Education must be from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform the full range of duties related to safety and licensing of byproduct materials.
• Plan, coordinate, lead and participate in projects for regulatory products (regulations, analyses, policies, guidelines).
• Support development of guidance, technical positions for national standards, regulatory guides and rules.
• Coordinate with State/local governments and Federal partners on safety and control of byproduct materials.
