Weir ESCO is seeking a Furnace Operator in Newton, MS to operate the furnace, monitor heat, and ensure proper charge and safety compliance during shifts. The role includes refractory maintenance and data recording to support production tracking.

You will follow strict safety protocols, maintain equipment integrity, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to advance a world-class safety culture.

Qualifications

• Operate furnace to melt steel and monitor temperatures following procedures.
• Maintain refractory lining and apply protective coatings as needed.
• Keep work area clean and follow PPE and safety protocols.
• Record operational data and support production tracking.

Responsibilities

• Furnace Operation: Operate the furnace to melt steel into a molten bath, ensuring the correct charge is placed and following the electronic heat log steps on the computer subsystem.
• Refractory Maintenance: Maintain and repair the refractory lining inside the furnace using specialized equipment to apply protective coatings.
• Safety and Cleanliness: Keep the work area clean and free of hazards, adhere to PPE and safety protocols.
• Data Collection and Reporting: Capture basic operational data and update pitch boards to support production tracking.
• Zero harm focus: Commit to safety culture and continuous improvement initiatives.
