Job summary

G&W Electric Co. is seeking a Furnace Operator to regulate furnace temperature, mix alloys, add fluxes, and ensure correct pouring temperatures in a manufacturing environment.

You will record process data for quality control and perform slag removal and ladle transfers to molds with attention to safety and accuracy. This role requires reading and following English instructions and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma, GED or combination of work experience and skill development.
• Ideally has experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a foundry.
• Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English.

Responsibilities

• Regulate the temperature of the furnace and charge a mixture of gates, scrap, and ingot in the correct proportions and of the correct alloy.
• Add the necessary fluxes and master alloys to each heat.
• Degas metal as required and test for presence of gas in molten metal.
• Remove molten metal from furnace when at proper pouring temperature.
• Record temperature and treatment additions for quality control requirements.
• Remove slag from molten metal, transport ladles to molding lines, and pour metal into molds at the proper height and rate.
