Job summary

Palmer-Marler Funeral Home is seeking an experienced Funeral Director to lead the planning, preparation, and execution of funeral and memorial services. You will work directly with families to tailor ceremonies and manage coordination with clergy and staff.

The role requires strong empathy, detail orientation, and the ability to supervise a team while handling sensitive situations with professionalism and care.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience preferred.
• Minimum two years of experience as a licensed Funeral Director
• Valid Funeral Director license in good standing (state and reciprocal across states)
• Valid driver’s license with clean record

Responsibilities

• Consult with client families to design end-of-life memorial services.
• Present all merchandising and service options to families.
• Obtain information for obituaries, death certificates and burial permits.
• Coordinate service arrangements with clergy and others involved.
• Record merchandise selections and contracts in systems.
• Plan and conduct visitations and funeral services.
• Oversee staff during services and ensure professional representation.
• Prepare the deceased (dressing, casketing).
• Direct families to service locations and manage transportation.
• Arrange shipment of remains when needed.
• Instruct apprentices and supervise paperwork.
• Perform removals and transfers into Park Lawn’s care.
