Assistant Fund Controller – Private Equity | NYC | In-Office

A leading middle-market private equity firm is seeking an Assistant Fund Controller to join its high-performing finance team in New York. This is a full-time, in-office position offering exposure to all facets of fund operations, investor reporting, and deal support in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

As Assistant Fund Controller, you’ll play a key role in supporting the financial and operational integrity of several private equity funds. You’ll work closely with senior finance leadership and cross-functional teams on fund accounting, capital activity, tax compliance, and treasury oversight, while also mentoring junior staff and working with third-party administrators.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with quarterly and annual fund financials, investor reporting, and capital calls/distributions
• Support the review and coordination of work from fund administrators
• Maintain and update waterfall models, carry schedules, and investor allocation files
• Partner with deal and legal teams on transaction activity and structuring
• Manage cash flow forecasting, credit facility drawdowns, and capital planning
• Help prepare audit deliverables, tax workpapers, and compliance filings
• Train and mentor junior team members and support process improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

• 7-13 years of experience in private equity, fund accounting, or a fund administrator
• Prior public accounting experience and a CPA is a must
• Solid understanding of partnership accounting, capital structures, and investor reporting
• Experience with systems like Investran, eFront, or similar is preferred
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple workstreams
• Team-oriented with strong communication skills and a proactive mindset
