We are looking for a Junior Controller/ Fund Accountant to join a fully remote consultancy business providing high-quality accounting and reporting services to a portfolio of Private Equity, Venture Capital, and Hedge Fund clients.

In this role, you will handle daily and periodic fund accounting operations, maintain accurate financial records, and ensure timely delivery of reports to fund managers and investors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with third-party fund administrators, custodians, and auditors to support client operations.
  • Be able to review general ledgers for multiple fund entities, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Process and or reconcile capital calls, distributions, management fees, and carried interest allocations.
  • Review and at times prepare periodic financial statements in accordance with GAAP and applicable fund accounting standards.
  • Calculate net asset values (NAV), internal rates of return (IRR), and other key fund performance metrics.
  • Assist in the preparation of capital account statements, review fund admin-prepared investor allocations, and at times review or build waterfall models.
  • Track portfolio investments, valuations, and ownership structures across investment vehicles.
  • Support audit processes by preparing documentation and responding to auditor requests.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., SEC, IRS).
  • Assist in tax work paper preparation and coordination with tax advisors.
  • Provide timely and professional responses to client inquiries.
  • Participate in client onboarding, fund setup, and implementation of accounting systems when required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 2–5+ years of fund accounting experience, preferably with experience auditing in financial services with general knowledge in PE, VC, hedge funds.
  • Solid understanding of partnership accounting, capital structures, and investment vehicles.
  • Experience with accounting platforms such as Investran, eFront, QuickBooks, or similar systems is a plus.
