Job summary

The Salvation Army in Baton Rouge seeks an experienced accountant to manage Corps and CSRC accounting, ensuring GAAP and FASB compliance and precise financial records for multiple programs.

Responsibilities include posting entries, preparing journal entries, calculating depreciation, and producing month-end reports; serve as liaison to the Advisory Board and Divisional Headquarters. Bachelor’s degree in accounting and at least two years in computerized bookkeeping required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, bookkeeping, business or related field.
• Two years experience in the performance of increasingly complex bookkeeping work utilizing a computerized accounting system (Great Plains preferred) with some exposure to double-entry fund accounting.

Responsibilities

• Plans and administers all Corps and CSRC accounting functions for a variety of programs and accounts in accordance with GAAP and FASB standards.
• Maintains understanding of CSRC operations; analyzes business affairs to ensure entries are accurate and timely.
• Serves as financial liaison to the Finance Committee; reviews and releases monthly financial information.
• Posts non-cash assets to ledger; posts depreciation; maintains inventory of non-cash assets.
• Posts and maintains ledgers for Corps books; enters income/expenses; prepares journal entries and month-end reports.
