Role Overview

As a Fund Accountant specializing in alternate asset management, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial integrity of our funds. You will work closely with portfolio managers, operations, auditors, and third-party administrators to deliver accurate, timely, and compliant financial information.

You will be involved in all aspects of fund accounting—from daily reconciliations to preparing quarterly and annual financial statements—and will gain exposure to complex partnership structures, investor allocations, and sophisticated waterfall models.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full accounting cycle for a portfolio of alternative investment funds, including hedge funds and private equity.
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of investment activity, portfolio positions, and cash balances.
• Calculate and report Net Asset Values (NAVs) and partner capital accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
• Process capital calls, distributions, subscriptions, and redemptions, including preparation of related investor notices and statements.
• Support the preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and/or IFRS.
• Assist with year-end audit processes and respond to auditor inquiries.
• Maintain and enhance internal controls and best practices within the fund accounting function.
• Collaborate with internal teams (operations, legal, compliance) and external partners (administrators, auditors) to resolve accounting and reporting issues.
• Participate in ongoing process improvements and system implementations to optimize efficiency.

Requirements

• 8–10 years of progressive fund accounting experience within alternative investments (hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, or similar).
• Deep knowledge of fund structures, waterfall calculations, investor allocations, and industry best practices.
• Advanced proficiency in fund accounting systems (e.g., Investran, eFront, Allvue) and strong Excel skills.
• Proven track record preparing financial statements and working with auditors under GAAP/IFRS.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving abilities, and capacity to meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or similar qualification is a plus.
