Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a passionate Advocacy Officer for a fully remote position with a nonprofit focused on human rights. You will develop and implement advocacy strategies, research issues, and engage policymakers to influence policy and drive social impact.

The role requires a Master's degree and at least 5 years in advocacy or human rights, with strong writing, research, and stakeholder engagement skills. Experience with South Africa's legislative processes and remote work are a plus.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Law, Political Science, Public Policy, Human Rights, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in advocacy, policy analysis, or human rights work.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing successful advocacy strategies.
• Strong research, analytical, and writing skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for diverse stakeholders.
• Familiarity with legislative and policy-making processes in South Africa.
• Ability to work independently and remotely.
• Experience on issues relevant to the Eastern Cape is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and analysis on relevant policy issues and human rights concerns.
• Develop policy briefs, position papers, and advocacy materials.
• Engage with policymakers and stakeholders to promote organizational objectives.
• Design and implement advocacy campaigns to raise public awareness.
• Monitor legislative and policy developments relevant to the mandate.
• Represent the organization in forums, coalitions, and meetings.
• Build and maintain relationships with partner organizations and civil society.
• Track and report on progress and impact of advocacy initiatives.
