Job summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) at Health First in Melbourne, FL provides direct and indirect patient care by adhering to the nursing process in a collaborative environment, promoting outcomes through evidence-based practice, care coordination, and patient and family engagement.

You will administer medications, document care, support discharge planning, and participate in rounds, quality and safety initiatives, and mentoring of new associates.

Qualifications

• ASN or Nursing Diploma required; BSN preferred.
• RN licensure in Florida or endorsement.
• AHA BLS healthcare provider certification.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking required.
• Ability to work autonomously and in collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Provides safe and effective nursing care based on assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient needs across the care continuum.
• Administers medications, perform treatments, and document care activities in accordance with Health First’s policies and procedures.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care, participate in rounds, and support discharge planning.
• Applies critical thinking to promptly identify changes in patient condition and initiate the appropriate interventions.
• Educates patients and families using teach-back to promote engagement in care and safe transitions.
• Adheres to safety protocols and infection prevention practices to protect patients and Associates.
• Utilizes Health First technology systems to enter clinical documentation and care plans.
• Participates in quality improvement, patient safety, and High Reliability Organization (HRO) initiatives.
• Supports precepting, mentoring, and onboarding of new Associates and students as appropriate.
• Promotes a culture of purpose, rounding, and communication at the bedside (e.g., whiteboard use, bedside shift report).
