Job summary

Midland Independent School District Emerson Elementary in Midland, Texas is seeking an Elementary Teacher Assistant, BAC, to support a classroom with students in special education. The position is non-exempt and follows the district calendar. Starting date is immediate, with assignment to the Assigned Campus, Special Services.

Qualifications

• Possess, or be willing to apply for, a TEA Educational Aide Certificate (personal expense).
• Educational Aide certificate as established by the State Board for Educator Certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent, or higher.
• 33 creditable years of experience as Educational aide I or II can be used as an alternative.

Responsibilities

• Follow the directions of the supervisor.
• Prepare materials and displays as directed.
• Demonstrate acceptable written and verbal skills.
• Work cooperatively with the teacher and students.
• Assist in maintaining student discipline.
• Care for and safety of students and equipment.
• Assist with loading/unloading students and self-help tasks.
• All other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
