Job summary

Greenwood Independent School District is seeking an Educational Aide - Special Education for Greenwood Intermediate in Midland, TX. The aide will support students with disabilities, assist with IEPs, and help with behavioral and instructional programs under supervision of teachers and the principal.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, plus relevant coursework or certification; two years of experience with children is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; associate’s degree or two years of college preferred.
• Texas educational aide certificate required.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities; follow instructions; communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Help meet the individual needs of students including transferring to and from wheelchairs and assisting with physical needs and personal care.
• Assist with behavior management and intervene in crisis situations as needed.
• Work with assigned students in groups to develop motor skills and conduct instructional activities.
• Provide supervision during lunch, bus, and recess; monitor safety and well-being of students.
• Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of assigned student(s).
