Job summary

New London-Spicer Schools seeks a dedicated Special Education Paraprofessional for Prairie Woods Elementary School. The role supports students with IEPs, monitors behavior, and assists with classroom activities and transitions.

Typical hours are 7:45 am to 3:15 pm; candidates must meet state Highly Qualified requirements. The position includes benefits and a union contract pay rate of $18.69/hour.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of IEPs and third-party billing is required.
• Understanding behavior plans and student supports is essential.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment and software.

Responsibilities

• Follow IEPs and monitor student behaviors; redirect as needed.
• Supervise students during various school activities (morning, lunch, recess, after school).
• Assist students with clothing and movement between classrooms and facilities.
• Assist with classwork, ensure attendance at Special Education sessions and sensory breaks.
• Complete time studies and student charts for third-party billing.
• Provide care for students with medical conditions; administer basic first aid when necessary.
