Job summary

Owingsville Elementary in Bath County Schools, Owingsville, KY, seeks an Exceptional Child Paraprofessional to support students with disabilities. Starting date is immediate; 185 days/year, 6.5 hours/day, or as set by the Board. Salary is $12.30 per hour, with evaluations by Principal and Special Education Director.

The role involves direct student support, behavior management, and collaboration with teachers, coordinators, and families in a dynamic special education environment.

Qualifications

• 60 hours of college credit or an Associate's Degree
• Passing score on the Kentucky Paraprofessional Test
• Associate degree preferred

Responsibilities

• Assists the student in maneuvering about the school building.
• Carries out duties assigned by the FMD teacher, the special education coordinator, and principal including daily living skills.
• Performs activities as stated on the students’ IEP.
• Assists with classroom instructional activities in which the handicapped student is involved.
• Performs physical/occupational activities as indicated by therapists/teachers.
• Assists the student in completing physical education activities under supervision.
• Participates in community-based instructional activities.
• Supports the student during therapies and other activities outside the room.
• Reinforces lessons and provides direct practice assistance.
• Attends IEP meetings and parent conferences as needed.
• Familiar with tornado and fire evacuation procedures.
