Job summary

Bard High School Early College (BHSEC) Baltimore invites applications for a full-time Social Sciences faculty position starting in August 2026. The successful candidate will plan and implement an instructional program in General Social Studies for high school and college program seminar sequences, and teach electives in their area of expertise.

They will manage student behavior, assess and evaluate student achievement, and engage in advising, committees, and extracurricular activities.

Qualifications

A Masters degree is required.
A dedication to teaching is required.
An interest in working with high school age students who are also completing a college-level course of study.
A strong commitment to equity and social justice.
A strong commitment to opening up opportunities in education for underrepresented students.
Candidates who will have a Ph.D. at the time of employment, or who are ABD, with high school and/or college teaching experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

Plan and implement an instructional program in General Social Studies.
Manage student behavior and assess student achievement.
Modify instructional activities as required.
Teach courses in our high school program, Seminar sequence courses in our college program, and electives in their area of expertise.
All BHSEC Baltimore faculty also participate in advising students, serving on committees, or sponsoring extracurricular activities.
