Responsibilities

  • Manage student behavior, assess and evaluate student achievement, and modify instructional activities as required.
  • Teach courses in our high school program, Seminar sequence courses in our college program, and electives in the area of expertise.
  • Participate actively in the life of the school, advising students, serving on committees, or sponsoring extracurricular activities.

About the Bard Early Colleges

The Bard Early Colleges, tuition-free, satellite campuses of BardCollege operated through partnerships with public school systems,are founded on the belief that many high-school-age students areeager and ready for the intellectual challenges of a collegeeducation.

Through a tuition-free, engaging college program in the liberalarts and sciences with robust supports, the Bard Early Collegeshelp high school students, particularly those at risk of notcompleting postsecondary education, access, afford, and completecollege prepared to contribute to the workforce and civic life.Students are taught by college faculty in seminar classes; theyreceive up to 60 college credits and an associate in arts (A.A.)degree from Bard College, concurrently with a high school diploma.The Bard Early Colleges begin preparing students for college workas early as the 9th grade and offer ongoing guidance and academicsupports. Now in its third decade, the Bard Early College networkof campuses serves over 3,300 students in campuses in LowerManhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, and in Queens, New York; Newark,New Jersey; New Orleans, Louisiana; Cleveland, Ohio; Baltimore,Maryland; and in Washington, DC. Since 2003, Bard College hasawarded more than 5,500 A.A. degrees to its early collegestudents.

Position Objectives

Bard High School Early College (BHSEC) Baltimore invitesapplications for a position in our Social Sciences Department,starting in the fall of 2026. The successful candidate will planand implement an instructional program in General Social Studiesand provides related educational services for students. They willmanage student behavior, assess, and evaluate student achievement,and modify instructional activities as required; and carry out avariety of student monitoring and supports activities.They willteach courses in our high school program, Seminar sequence coursesin our college program, and electives in their area of expertise.All BHSEC Baltimore faculty also participate actively in the lifeof the school, advising students, serving on committees, orsponsoring extracurricular activities.
