Job summary

Hotel Magdalena's Summer on Music Lane in Austin is seeking a friendly server to welcome guests, take orders, and deliver meals and beverages with attentiveness and warmth.

You will work as part of a casual, hospitality-minded team; a High School diploma and six months in service are preferred. We offer comprehensive benefits and room-night perks to support our staff and enhance guest experiences, including medical and wellness programs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Six (6) months related experience in hospitality or service industry.
• Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of co-workers and sister property staff.
• Ability to understand other computer programs (i.e. Property Management System and Point of Sale).
• Ability to apply concepts of math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos, and verbal instruction.
• Escort customers to their tables.
• Present menus to patrons and answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request.
• Describe and recommend wines to customers.
• Check patrons' identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.
• Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods.
• Serve food or beverages to patrons, and prepare or serve specialty dishes at tables as required.
• Inform customers of daily specials.
• Write patrons' food orders on order slips, memorize orders, or enter orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff.
