Job summary

Amedisys is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to deliver patient-centered therapy in home health settings. This full-time role supports the supervising PT, implements the plan of care, and monitors patient progress to promote healing at home.

The PTA must maintain patient confidentiality, document interventions, and participate in care conferences and quality improvement activities while providing resources for future needs and promoting wellness.

Qualifications

• Current license to practice as a physical therapy assistant in the assigned state.
• Graduate from an accredited physical therapy assistant program as set by CAPTE.
• One year related physical therapy experience for PTAs entering home health care.
• If less than one year of experience, regional clinical leaders must approve and mentor.

Responsibilities

• Provides physical therapy services and interventions under the supervision of a PT and the plan of care.
• Observes, records and reports patient response to treatment to supervising staff.
• Provides resources for future needs and promotes wellness and prevention.
• Documents supervisory activities in the patient’s medical record.
• Monitors and documents patient response to PT intervention.
• Participates in care conferences, in services, chart audits, quality improvement, and peer-review.
• Maintains confidentiality of information related to the PT-client relationship.
• Makes referrals and coordinates follow-up with the admitting agency and community resources.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
