Description
Lexington Regional Health Center is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant to join our Rehabilitation Services team. Reporting to the Director of Rehabilitation Services, this role involves administering physical therapy procedures, supervising patient exercises, documenting progress, and educating patients and families. The position requires working in various environments, ensuring safety and infection control, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.
Principle duties and responsibilities
- Administer physical therapy procedures and modalities to meet treatment plan objectives.
- Review patient medical history for contraindications and precautions.
- Supervise therapeutic exercises and monitor patient progress.
- Assist with patient transfers to promote independence.
- Document patient progress accurately in various formats.
- Process billing and submit charges timely.
- Educate patients and caregivers on condition, care plan, and home programs.
- Transport between locations and for home health visits.
- Communicate patient updates to team members and providers.
- Participate in patient care activities involving bloodborne pathogen precautions.
- Ensure safe disposal of biohazardous waste and follow safe-injection practices.
- Maintain a safe environment adhering to standards and infection control guidelines.
- Attend work regularly at the assigned location.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Proficiency with office equipment and software; associate’s degree from an accredited PTA program.
- Current Nebraska PTA license.
- Eligible to serve as a clinical facilitator after one year.
- Basic Life Support certification within six months of hire.
- Attention to detail and ability to monitor patient responses.
- Effective communication skills across diverse backgrounds.
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
- Complete professional reports and respond promptly to inquiries.
- Complete training on standard precautions and transmission protocols.
