Medical Virtual Assistant - Virtual Assistant

Virtual Rockstar is seeking a full-time Medical Virtual Assistant to support our client’s administrative and billing team. The primary focus of this role is to handle insurance verification, manage pre-authorizations, and follow up on claims, freeing up the in-clinic staff to focus more fully on providing excellent patient care.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and experienced with healthcare administrative tasks. This is a fully remote position, but you’ll work closely with the team via Microsoft Teams and other tools.

Responsibilities

Insurance Verification & Authorization

Verify insurance coverage for physical therapy services, including both primary and secondary plans

Identify policies requiring pre-authorization and submit authorization requests

Track and update authorization status throughout the patient’s plan of care

Input verified insurance data into our EMR system (Prompt)

Follow up on unpaid claims and address any rejections or denials

Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies

Assist in preparing documentation for claim appeals when necessary

Ensure compliance with billing regulations and accurate coding

Explain insurance benefits and coverage to patients when needed

Answer patient inquiries regarding claims or insurance

Liaise with insurance providers to clarify policy and coverage details

Administrative Tasks

Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records

Protect patient privacy and ensure all communications and records comply with HIPAA

Support document handling and communication via Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and Google Docs
