Job summary

Frederick Health is seeking a full-time Phlebotomist Register for the Mount Airy location. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm, with every other weekend 8am to 12pm.

This role integrates phlebotomy duties with patient registration and insurance validation to reduce denials and improve cash flow. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, a phlebotomy program, CPR/BLS, and prior phlebotomy or registration experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Thirteen-week phlebotomy course or 3-month military course preferred.
• Current BLS (CPR) per site policy for new hires.
• Phlebotomy program certification preferred.
• Current valid driver's license may be required by location.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens (blood/urine/cultural) per physician order ensuring specimen integrity.
• Enter patient demographics for registration and order entry; resolve unusual orders by contacting lab staff.
• Verify insurance eligibility and collect copays/deductibles at or before service; refer to Financial Counselors as needed.
• Communicate effectively with patients and staff; maintain customer service and professional demeanor.
• Adhere to CLIA requirements when applicable for moderate complexity testing.
