Job summary

Coastal Carolina Community College in Jacksonville, North Carolina seeks a Full-Time Permanent Powerline Instructor to lead classroom and field instruction in the power delivery industry. This twelve‑month, Monday–Friday position reports to the Division Chair for Continuing Education; standard hours are 7:30 a.m.

to 4:30 p.m. Salary is $6,000 per month, with final determination based on education and experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with Journeyman Powerline program and 3 years field experience.
• Current Class A CDL or ability to obtain one.
• Experience teaching is preferred; substation/transmission experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom and field instruction for power delivery subjects.
• Evaluate and improve program quality in coordination with supervisor.
• Stay up to date with OSHA and NESC regulations affecting power line work.
• Advise students and complete paperwork accurately and timely.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED and completion of a Journeyman Level Powerline Technician program with three (3) years of field experience, required. Associate degree or higher degree, preferred. Must have a current Class A CDL, or the ability to obtain one. Experience teaching, preferred. Substation and/or transmission experience preferred but not required.

Preferred Qualifications

Position Description

Twelve (12) month full-time position, primarily Monday – Friday, which may involve day and some evening and weekend work providing classroom and field instruction for various subjects in the power delivery industry, including how to install and repair electrical power systems. In conjunction with the direct supervisor, evaluate and improve program quality, stay abreast of applicable regulations applying to electrical line work, such as OSHA and NESC, advise students, and complete all paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.

Standard Working Hours: Monday – Friday; 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Salary: $6,000 per month, with final salary determination based upon education and experience.
