Job summary

BJC Medical Group in Alton, Illinois, part of BJC HealthCare, is seeking a full-time Patient Services Representative to manage front office activities at Alton Internal Medicine. You will perform patient check-ins, schedule appointments, and maintain patient financial records in a busy physician office.

Ideal candidates have 2–5 years of experience in medical office settings and a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• Preferred medical office experience.
• 2–5 years of experience in healthcare or medical office settings.

Responsibilities

• Handles telephone calls from patients and staff; forwards calls requiring triage.
• Performs receptionist duties with close attention to detail and professionalism.
• Verifies health insurance payment information and educates patients on applicable regulations; collects payments and records data.
• Performs data entry of service charges, including assignment of diagnostic codes and entry of all physician and clinic related charges.
• Coordinates information with Central Billing Office to ensure all charges are captured and properly collected.
