Job summary

Appoquinimink School District seeks a Full-Time Paraprofessional - Specialized Programs - RISE at Cedar Lane Elementary School. The role supports teachers by reinforcing instruction, monitoring student progress, and providing clerical assistance to ensure smooth classroom operations.

The position requires a High School diploma or 60 college credits, and a Delaware Paraeducator Permit. Training in Safety-Care or similar programs may be required as a condition of employment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or 60 college credits.
• REQUIRED: State of Delaware Paraeducator Permit.
• Ability to work cooperatively with teachers, students, administrators, and parents.
• Experience in working with students of varying abilities.
• Excellent communication, organization, and computer skills.
• Knowledge of IDEA, 504 and IEPs.
• Criminal background check and Tuberculin testing.

Responsibilities

• Assists in providing a safe and encouraging learning environment to meet students' needs, interests, and abilities.
• Demonstrates professionalism, maintain confidentiality, accept constructive feedback and maintain an atmosphere that promotes student learning.
• Supports the classroom teacher in instruction by engaging in planning, following plans outlined by the teacher, and working with individual students/small groups.
• Supports the classroom teacher in assessment by monitoring independent work, collecting academic/behavioral data, and assisting in keeping accurate/current record of student progress.
• Supports the classroom teacher in organization by performing clerical duties, assisting in gathering/developing instructional materials, and maintaining an organized work environment.
• Demonstrates characteristics of an effective team member by engaging in problem solving, and exhibiting flexibility, and cooperation.
• Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
• Works continuously toward self-improvement through the active pursuit of professional development activities.
• Implements School Board and school-based policies and procedures in order to uphold school regulations.
• Assumes other responsibilities and perform other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or Director of Educational Resources/Executive Director of Teaching and Learning
