Job summary

The City of Madison looks for a dependable Heavy Equipment Operator to join the Streets, Parks, Solid Waste & Recycling team in Madison, SD. You will operate backhoes, loaders, graders, dump trucks, and other equipment to maintain streets, public spaces, and services throughout the community.

Work is outdoors in varying weather; you may respond to after-hours emergencies and work evenings, weekends, or holidays.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate heavy machinery and perform physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment (backhoes, front-end loaders, motor graders, dump trucks, rollers, street sweepers, refuse collection trucks, and other equipment).
• Assist with street repairs, snow removal, storm cleanup, solid waste and recycling operations, sign installation and repair, tree and right-of-way maintenance, and related projects.
• May be called to respond to after-hours emergencies and work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
