Job summary

UPMC Passavant is seeking a Full-Time Night Patient Care Technician, Senior to join the Resource Pool. You will provide advanced patient care under RN direction on three 12-hour evening/overnight shifts, and rotate across units as needed.

The role requires at least 6 months of direct patient care experience and offers a base rate with a 10% pool bonus plus an additional $2/hour for eligible participants. Join us to deliver Life Changing Medicine in the community.

Position: Full-Time Night Patient Care Technician, Senior

Department: Resource Pool

Location: UPMC Passavant

Shifts: Three 12-hour evening/overnight shifts. Hours may vary by unit.

Title and rate of pay will be determined based upon individual qualifications, experience, and education. In addition, Resource Pool staff are assigned to different units throughout the hospital and receive a 10% bonus on top of their base rate while active in the pool! Candidates must have at least 6 months of direct patient care experience to qualify for the night program. Those who qualify will receive an additional $2/hour on top of the current off-shift differential while meeting program requirements.

• Nursing Assistant: $18.59
• Patient Care Technician: $18.99
• Patient Care Technician, Senior: $19.19

Responsibilities:

• Provide advanced patient care under RN direction, including ADLs, procedures, therapies, and patient monitoring
• Perform all core PCT competencies, including vital signs, point-of-care testing, telemetry, specimen collection, EKGs, bladder scans, dressings, catheter removal, and restraint application per protocol
• Assist with unit and patient needs (e.g., responding to call lights, meal delivery, patient transport, and monitoring), including transport of cardiac monitored patients
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment while following infection control and safety protocols
• Monitor patients and report changes in condition or equipment issues promptly
• Document care accurately and complete clerical functions as needed
• Support unit operations and quality initiatives, including participation in projects and department activities
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to support coordinated care
• Demonstrate professionalism by building positive relationships, taking ownership of assignments, and supporting team performance and improvement efforts
• Provide patient and family education under RN direction and respond to emergent situations as appropriate
