Job summary

UPMC Passavant is seeking a Full-Time Night Patient Care Technician for the 5 South Neurosurgical Unit. You will support patient care under RN direction, assist with ADLs, monitor vitals, perform EKGs, and help with procedures and therapies.

This role requires a compassionate, detail-oriented team member in a fast-paced neuro unit. Candidates must have at least 6 months of direct patient care experience and will receive a $2/hour differential to base rate plus the off-shift differential while

• Ability to perform core PCT responsibilities and assist with therapies under RN direction.
• willingness to work 36 hours per week on straight night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under RN direction, including assisting with ADLs, procedures, and therapies.
• Perform core PCT tasks: vital signs, point-of-care testing, telemetry application, specimen collection, EKGs, and basic dressings.
• Assist with unit needs: respond to call lights, deliver meals, transport patients, monitor conditions.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control procedures.
• Document care accurately and complete clerical tasks as needed.

Shifts:

36 hours per week; straight nights

Title and rate of pay will be determined based upon individual qualifications, experience, and education.

Candidates must have at least 6 months of direct patient care experience, and will receive a $2/hour differential to their base rate plus the current off‑shift differential while meeting program requirements.

The minimum hourly starting rates for each level are as follows:

• Care Attendant: $18.19
• Nursing Assistant: $18.59
• Patient Care Technician: $18.99
• Patient Care Technician, Senior: $19.19

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care under RN direction, including assisting with ADLs, procedures, and therapies
• Perform core PCT responsibilities, including vital signs, point‑of‑care testing, telemetry application, specimen collection, bladder scans, EKGs, and basic dressings
• Assist with unit and patient needs (e.g., responding to call lights, meal delivery, patient transport, and monitoring)
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment while following infection control and safety protocols
• Monitor patients and report changes in condition or equipment issues promptly
• Document care accurately and complete clerical tasks as needed
• Support unit operations by stocking supplies and assisting with department activities
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to support coordinated care
• Demonstrate professionalism by building positive relationships, supporting team initiatives, and seeking opportunities for growth and development
• Respond to emergent situations and provide patient supervision or assistance as appropriate
