Job summary

UPMC Passavant in Pittsburgh is seeking a Senior Patient Care Technician to join the Resource Pool. This full-time role involves advanced patient care under RN supervision, unit support, and coordinating with a multi-disciplinary team.

The position offers rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays, with a 10% pool bonus on top of base pay. Starting rates for the pool levels vary by experience, with Senior PCT at $19.19 per hour and 36 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Provide advanced patient care under RN direction.
• Perform core PCT competencies such as vital signs and EKGs.
• Assist with unit operations and patient transport as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced patient care under RN direction, including ADLs, procedures, therapies, and patient monitoring
• Perform core PCT competencies including vital signs, point-of-care testing, telemetry, specimen collection, EKGs, bladder scans, dressings, catheter removal, and restraint application per protocol
• Assist with unit and patient needs (call lights, meals, transport, monitoring) including transport of cardiac monitored patients
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment following infection control and safety protocols
• Monitor patients and report changes in condition or equipment issues promptly
• Document care accurately and complete clerical functions as needed
• Support unit operations and quality initiatives, including participation in projects and department activities
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to support coordinated care
• Demonstrate professionalism by building positive relationships and ownership of assignments
• Provide patient and family education under RN direction and respond to emergent situations

Position: Full-Time Patient Care Technician, Senior
Department: Resource Pool
Location: UPMC Passavant
Shifts: 36 hours/week; rotating shifts (including weekends, overnights, and holidays)

Title and rate of pay will be determined based upon individual qualifications, experience, and education. In addition, Resource Pool staff are assigned to different units throughout the hospital and receive a 10% bonus on top of their base rate while active in the pool! The minimum hourly starting rates for each level are as follows:

• Care Attendant: $18.19
• Nursing Assistant: $18.59
• Patient Care Technician: $18.99
• Patient Care Technician, Senior: $19.19

Responsibilities:

• Provide advanced patient care under RN direction, including ADLs, procedures, therapies, and patient monitoring
