YOUR DAY-TO-DAY LIFE

We are looking for a full-time Microbiology Technician at 2057 Builders Place, Columbus, OH 43204, USA. Your mission will be to:

Purpose (Objective): The incumbent prepares samples for processing and maintains documentation of processes to facilitate testing procedures.

Main Activities
  1. Prepare samples for analysis by recording, weighing, and blending.
  2. Write identification onto plates so that client and sample numbers can be tracked.
  3. Pipette sample solutions into tubes or plates according to the analysis process being performed.
  4. Pour agar into plates or tubes to begin the growth process.
  5. Collect plates and place them in the incubator for the specified amount of time and temperature.
  6. Prepare media and broth for pathogen testing as required.
  7. Ensure media and materials are prepared for the next testing sequence.
  8. Maintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) required to complete job responsibilities.
  9. Set up equipment and materials needed for analysis.
  10. Read plates and tubes to determine the number of organisms in the sample.
  11. Support corporate quality and continuous improvement processes.
  12. Perform housekeeping duties, keeping work areas and equipment clean and sanitized.
  13. Participate in cleaning schedules and maintain retain samples as required.
  14. Adhere to all safety policies.
  15. Support laboratory management in implementing, maintaining, and improving the management system.
  16. Perform other related tasks as needed.
YOUR PROFILE

Required Education/Qualifications: HS Diploma with 1+ year of relevant work experience. Basic knowledge of science, personal computers, laboratory safety procedures, and planning skills are necessary.

Required Skills: Time management, attention to detail, analytical skills, knowledge of LIMS, and physical dexterity.

Work Environment

The incumbent works in a laboratory setting with proper lighting and temperature control. Occasional exposure to fumes, chemicals, and materials occurs. Safety equipment such as gloves, lab coats, and glasses may be required. The role involves using autoclaves, lifting up to 50 pounds, extended standing, and detecting color variations.
