• Education/certifications as listed: diploma or GED, paraprofessional cert, and/or two years of college.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to follow directions.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual instruction or small-group assistance using library media resources.
• Check books in/out and record fines; prepare materials for use by teachers.
• Request and schedule materials from outside sources; prepare displays and materials.
• Read to small groups and support classroom instruction.
• Maintain library catalog; assist with inventory and weeding of materials.
• Process new books/materials; shelve and repair items as needed.
• Compile, file reports and routine correspondence; support teachers and students.
• Supervise students and assist with classroom behavior management.
• Maintain library operations and coordinate volunteer work; follow safety protocols.
