Job summary

Ampersand Therapy is seeking a full-time Paraprofessional to support students with significant needs in an Independence, MO K-12 setting. You will provide 1:1 or small group support, assist with academics, communication, and daily living skills under the classroom team's guidance.

Qualifications

• Must meet one of: 60 college credit hours, 20-hour substitute certificate, or ParaPathways/ParaPro assessment.
• Experience with children or individuals with significant support needs preferred.
• Compassion, patience, and strong communication skills required.
• Ability to follow individualized education and behavior support plans.
• School-based/paraprofessional experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 or small group support to students with significant support needs.
• Assist students with academic activities, communication, and daily living skills as needed.
• Implement behavior support plans and instructional strategies under classroom supervision.
• Support students with mobility, transitions, and classroom participation.
• Reinforce social, emotional, communication, and functional life skills.
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, therapists, and related service providers.
• Help maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.
• Maintain basic documentation as needed.
