Job summary

Dubuque Community Schools in Dubuque, Iowa seeks a Health Paraprofessional to provide health care services to students under the supervision of the school nurse, support the educational program, and maintain health records.

Requirements include CPR/First Aid certification, 18+, high school diploma or equivalent, ability to lift 50-75 pounds, strong communication and confidentiality; 185 day contract with hourly rate of $16.85.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have certification in First Aid/CPR commensurate with age group.
• Must be able to deal with emergency situations.
• Must have knowledge of and able to identify common health problems.
• Ability to learn health related procedures and tasks as delegated by the School Nurse.
• Knowledge of maintaining health records and files.
• Completion of a state approved medication administration course.
• Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to transport students if needed.
• Ability to work with students with disabilities and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Provide first aid and CPR within limits outlined by health office policies.
• Administer medications and keep health records in accordance with policy.
• Contact the school nurse in case of major illness or injury.
• Provide routine health and emergency coverage per direction of the school nurse.
