Job summary

Seattle Academy seeks a full-time, 12-month Facilities Technician to join our Operations team. This non-exempt hourly role maintains building, equipment, and machinery including HVAC and lighting, grounds keeping, security, and general facilities tasks.

Seattle Academy seeks a full-time, 12-month Facilities Technician to join our Operations team. This position is a non-exempt hourly position. At the direction of the Facilities Director, the Facilities Technician is responsible to execute the day to day operations involving the maintenance of the building/facility, equipment and machinery, including HVAC, building lighting systems, grounds keeping, security and overall facilities. They are required to work in partnership with all SAAS facilities employees as well as outside vendors who repair and maintain building/facility, equipment and machinery. This position services the needs and requests of all faculty and staff while maintaining the standards set forth by their Manager.

Essential Functions:
  • Works flexible scheduled hours.
  • Performs assigned work, accurately and safely, while minimizing overtime.
  • Supports the Facilities Director in the development and maintenance of a preventative maintenance schedule program for applicable equipment and machinery.
  • At the Facilities Director’s direction, coordinates and manages appropriate third-party contractor support as needed.
  • Maintains and enforces sound safety and housekeeping practices.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee can be exposed to airborne particles, fumes, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme outside weather conditions.

The physical demands descried here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. The position requires the ability to both speak and hear. This position is very active and requires the ability to stand, walk, bend at the waist, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl and/or climb for up to 8 hours per day. The employee in this position must be able to lift and move items up to 50lbs on a regular basis and over 50lbs on an occasional basis.

Qualifications:
  • High school or trade school diploma

The position is salaried (exempt) with a salary range of $34.75 to $36.75 per hour, depending on relative experience. Successful candidates must be able to pass a fingerprint background check as a contingency of employment. SAAS offers an excellent benefit package.
