Job summary

Daifuku North America in Hobart, IN, is seeking a Fabricator to operate fabrication and machine shop equipment to produce structural steel components for industrial automation. The role requires reading blueprints, precise measurements, and adherence to quality standards.

You will set up machines, inspect parts, perform light maintenance, and follow Daifuku's QMS policies while supporting continuous improvement and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 1 year related experience preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Knowledge of standard and metric measurements.
• Knowledge of quality assurance and self-inspection techniques.
• Self-motivated and detail-oriented.
• Team orientation.
• LOTO certification and crane certification required.
• Forklift experience preferred.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Operate fabrication shop and machine shop machinery to cut, shape, and bend metal.
• Read job specifications and blueprints to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
• Set stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.
• Position workpiece against stops or align layout marks with die or blade.
• Measure workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
• Detect workpiece defects and machine malfunctions.
• Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, and scale from workpiece.
• Perform minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or workpieces.
• Comply with Daifuku’s QMS policies and procedures.
• Support continuous improvement to provide leading industry performance and customer satisfaction.
