FREP is a growing Equine Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation Practice based in the Northern Colorado Front Range with monthly trips to Steamboat Springs and Laramie, WY. We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant or Technician to join our team and grow with us as we expand our clinic and rehabilitation center in Berthoud, CO. We have amazing patients and clients of all disciplines, from high-end English and Western performance horses to the companion mini donkey. We pride ourselves on offering all of our patients the best in chiropractic care and state-of-the-art sports medicine to empower patients to realize their peak performance and remain comfortable while doing so.
We are a group of people who genuinely enjoy each other’s company and are extremely protective of the unique, supportive culture we have developed. We believe this environment allows us to better communicate with each other and our clients to create a truly unique work culture that is often hard to find in equine medicine.
Our Veterinary Assistants/Technicians play a key role in our practice and are irreplaceable in allowing our days to run smoothly.
A typical day in the rehabilitation barn involves performing basic physical exams, administering medications, feeding hay/grain, cleaning stalls, performing dynamic mobility exercises, treatments, handwalking, and assisting in the training of patients to use Vitafloor, solarium, and water treadmill. The successful candidate will need to have a positive attitude and be able to communicate effectively to help manage the wrenches that occasionally derail our daily plans. This role requires the individual to be physically able to jog horses, work in all weather conditions, and be able to multitask. This role also requires participation in a rotating weekend schedule between rehabilitation assistants.
Our future team members will be positive, personable, and reliable professionals who want to expand their skills as members of this supportive team. In addition to being a “horse person,” comfortable around all types of horses and possessing exceptional horse handling skills, they must also be able to relate to clients and exercise discretion. We seek a team member who takes pride in him/herself, their work, and has the initiative to go above and beyond required duties to exceed customer expectations and to be a partner in growing the business. We desire someone who has a drive to learn and develop themselves professionally with a long-term career goal set in equine veterinary medicine. We believe in helping to develop our team members, whether through continuing education or providing employer training. Additional requirements include a background check and a working interview.
This is a full-time hourly position with an initial 90-day review period. This position is Sunday-Thursday, and a rotational Holiday schedule is required. Compensation will be competitive based on experience.
The practice operates Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM for appointments and full-time rehabilitation care. Saturday and Sunday, the rehabilitation facility is operational for horse care and client visiting hours. If able to drive a horse trailer, the candidate will be asked to become part of the rotating on-call weekend and night emergency trailering for rehabilitation patients.
