Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking a compassionate patient care specialist to provide clinical and technical support to nurses and medical staff in the Care Center. The role involves venipuncture, starting IVs, performing EKGs, data collection and specimen handling, while maintaining infection control and effective communication with patients and families.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, Virginia EMT certification (or National Registry) and CPR certification; hospital experience

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Current Virginia EMT Certification and/or National Registry required.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• One year EMT or clinical-related experience preferred.
• AHA ACLS, PALS certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and technical support to nurses and staff.
• Assist with patient data collection and specimen collection.
• Perform designated patient care procedures as directed.
• Maintain infection control practices and participate in quality improvement.
• Process communications between departments and families.
• Set up venipuncture, IVs, EKGs, and monitor patient status.
• Operate hospital information systems and documentation.
